The 4th of July we celebrate Independence Day, the birth of our nation. It is the day we adopted the Declaration of Independence declaring our freedom from Great Britain. It is a day that is commonly celebrated with barbecues, fireworks, carnivals, festivals, concerts and other festive events. People come from across the country to celebrate this holiday at Virginia Beach or historic Williamsburg. What better place to celebrate the birth of nation than historic Williamsburg. The celebration starts with a salute to the original 13 states, complete with music from fifes and drums. The celebration features flags from each state and the firing of muskets and cannons. AS the day comes to a close there will be a fireworks display that is visible from both the Market square and the Palace Green.
The Governor’s Land at Two Rivers
This country club hosts an annual July 4th event. The event starts with a cookout. The event costs 23.95 for people age 13 and up. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 cost $10.95. Children under 5 are free. The event will have activities for children and fireworks at dusk.
This amusement park has a celebration for the 4th of July called Star Spangled Nights. The event starts July 3rd and runs straight through September 6th. This event dazzles park-goers with fireworks, moving soundscapes and unforgettable environments.
This event is held at Mount Trashmore which is located at 310 Edwin Drive in Virginia Beach.The event starts at 4pm and ends at 10pm. To confirm the event you can call 757-385-2990. The event is free, but it does cost $5 to park. The event will feature live music from local musicians. There will also be delicious food available. The night is capped off with a booming fireworks display. If it rains the event will be held on July 5th.
Stars and Stripes Explosion
This event will takes place at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. To confirm the event and get details you can call 1-800-822-3224. The event will have multiple performing acts in multiple locations on the Oceanfront. A stage will be erected on the beach at 20th Street where Symphonicity, the symphony orchestra of Virginia Beach, will play along with the Virginia Beach Chorale. The program will feature patriotic songs, broadway standards, folk music, movie soundtracks and nostalgia. A magical fireworks display will cap off the night. Fireworks are set off over the ocean so they can be seen from any beach front location.
