Town and Treat: Virginia Beach’s Annual Halloween Event

Trick or treat! Something wicked this way comes, and it wouldn’t be Halloween without a spooky party to ring in the occasion. Virginia Beach more than delivers with the annual Town and Treat, set to take over this October 29th. The party happens at Town Center each year, with activities spanning from Fountain Plaza to the Pembroke Mall. With everything right in the center of the city, it’s not easy to miss!

Starting at noon and going until 4PM, spooky creatures set up camp in the heart of town. It’s child-friendly, so no worries about spooking the little ones too much. There won’t be anything too gore-y or grotesque, in case you’re feeling a little squeamish. Even older kids should get a kick out of seeing well-painted zombies and ghosts, though. And everyone’s encouraged to dress up! Parents and children alike stampeding around the heart of this tourist city is definitely a sight to see. If you’re looking to interact with some friends from beyond the grave, this is the place to do it.

The best part is what everyone is looking for – the treat part! Candy is given out all day in between activities, and it’s the perfect place to get some early candy-hunting done. Who doesn’t like the idea of having twice the stash? If you’re looking for a different kind of sweet treat, there are ice cream, donuts, and plenty of apple cider to go around, too, and that doesn’t include the apples in the bobbing for apples that always crops up at Halloween parties like these. It’s worth a look just for the food alone.

If you’re looking for something fun to do the day before Halloween and you’re in the area, it’s worth giving it a try. The fun activities go well into the afternoon and the community’s always happy to welcome in newcomers, so it’s a fun place for a family-friendly Halloween treat. Plus, classic Halloween tunes are always nice to dance to. Why not celebrate the one time a year we all get a little spooky?
