Portsmouth, Virginia is the home of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Portsmouth sits on miles of waterfront property along the Western side of the Elizabeth River. Directly across from the city of Norfolk, Portsmouth was founded as a town in 1752, but colonist began living and building ships there in the early 1600s.

Williamsburg, Virginia was founded in 1632 as a plantation between the James and York rivers. Part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, Williamsburg was the original capital of the Colony of Virginia. From 1699 to 1780, Williamsburg was at the center of many of the political events that led up to the Revolutionary War. Today, Williamsburg serves as a reminder of America’s colonial roots and it is part of the Historic Triangle, which attracts more than four million tourist each year.
